Taj Mahal is the visual representation of the matchless love and adoration that Shah Jahan had for his wife Mumtaz

Photo Spots

Taj Mahal is one the most photogenic locations in the world, and there are some beautiful photo locations in the premises that can give enviable shots. It would be advisable to take the assistance of professional cameramen, for a few snaps, as they know the right location for pictures and they can take some trick photographs too.

  • Before entering the main gate, amazing pictures can be taken with the massive red stone arched gates as the background.
  • Inside the compound Taj Mahal can be viewd from the formal gates, with its reflection in the waterway, this is one of the most beautiful point to take a picture -with the lawn in front and the sky in the background.
  • While walking through the lawn, on the left hand side, there is a certain point where Taj Mahal can be captured as if held in hand. And, as the spot is relatively less crowded, it would be the ideal location to take family and individual pictures with the monument as background.
  • The Makrana marbles reflects the changing colours of the sky, so the monument can be captured in various hues at different times of the day.
  • The reflection of Taj Mahal is best during sunrise and sunset, and also on a clear day.
  • Taj is at its best on a full moon day. Now that tourists are allowed in the night, it is a great opportunity to capture an image when the monument reflects its best.
  • Another strategic photo point is to take a picture from the other side of the river. The monument can be pictured with its complete reflection that is formed in the river. For the finest shot, the morning pictures should be taken from the North East and in the evenings from the North West. But a fine picture can be spoiled if there is fog and if the river has less water.  Further, to get to the other side, early bookings are to be made for a taxi or an auto rickshaw, and that too for a waiting driver. Otherwise, it will be long walk back home.
  • Don’t forget to take a picture of the Pietra Dura inside the Mausoleum.
  • However, Taj Mahal is a magical place, which looks beautiful even when it drizzles or covered with dust. Even if you fail to make it to the vantage points at the right time, pictures taken from any angle in this architectural marvel is worth a million buck.
